White Trees

Janina Mokrzycka was a daughter of a famous photographer, Henryk Schabenbeck, and of Helena Panczakiewiczowna. She studied in the Graphics Institute in Vienna. After 1936, she worked and had her own photographic studios in Katowice, Nowy Targ, and Warsaw. She was an active member of the Association of Polish Art Photographers. In 1956-58, she was the head of the Main Management Board of that association. In 1957, in the Kordegarda gallery, Mokrzycka's only individual exhibition in Poland took place. Since 1958, the photographer lived in Canada. For many years, she had a photographic studio in Toronto. Also in that city, she had two individual exhibitions: Women of Toronto (1961) and The Face of the Dancer (1964).
