1933 izohelia (posterization), gelatin silver print, 39.5 × 27.5 cm, mounted on cardboard 39.8 × 27.9 cm, signed "WRomer" and dated on the front vintage
The artist printed this work using the izohelia process, which he had patented in Lviv in 1931. Izohelia is a posterization technique involving the production of positive images consisting of several superimposed tonal layers, with the grades of grey of each layer clearly separated from one another. The end result is obtained by multiple copying of the original negative on very high contrast film, applying different exposure times each time the image is copied.
