Zofia RYDET (1911-1997)

Zofia Rydet started working on the World of Feelings and Imagination series in the 1960s. In 1979, an album was released with a foreword by Urszula Czartoryska and 70 photographs in 15 series of poetic photomontages having great emotional effect. As Rydet said: "my World of Emotions and Imagination depicts humans in the precarious state which already exists from the moment of their birth, their obsessions, their feelings, loneliness, desires and anxiety, for which there is no salvation but through love. It is a story about the tragedy of passing, fear of annihilation and destruction".
The work has been shown at many individual and group exhibitions, notably Zofia Rydet. Fotografie, Museum of Art, Łódź (1999), National Museum in Wrocław (2000); Zofia Rydet: The First Lady of Polish Photography, Fotogalerie Kistemaker, Oldenzaal, the Netherlands (2007); Zofia Rydet.
