This portrait of Teresa Kujawa (b. 1927) was made in the early years of her career. Kujawa was a dancer, choreographer, director and teacher. She made her début in 1949 in the Wrocław Opera. She worked, for example, with Théâtre d`Art du Ballet in Paris, and was, in the years 1960-1971, a first soloist of the Poznań Opera. Her productions as a choreographer and director include: Swan Lake, The Haunted Manner, Symphony No. 4 (Symphonie Concertante) by Karol Szymanowski and Exodus with music written by Wojciech Kilar. She is a member of the Union of Polish Theatre Artists (ZASP) and was decorated with the Award of the Minister of Culture and Art (1985), the Knight`s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restitua (1986), and the Medal for Merit to Culture.
